Welcome to the Central Kansas Flywheels Yesteryear Museum. The museum is now in its 29th year of operation. It was founded by people involved in the farming industry who wanted to preserve not only the equipment & implements used in agriculture but the techniques involved as well. As a state with a proud agricultural tradition, the museum portrays the evolving agricultural process and represents what it was like for the rural population to create a life for themselves on their homesteads. Though the museum displays primarily agricultural machinery, it also has numerous items devoted to the social and cultural aspect of rural life.

A unique feature of the Museum is that most everything can be touched and felt. This differs dramatically from the static and protected displays that you find at other museums. This personal interaction helps in the education process whereas visitors can appreciate items that they can touch, feel and connect with. As the museum has the ability to educate visitors on the use of its displays, we encourage schools statewide to bring classes out and take advantage of the educational opportunity we have to offer

The museum is situated on 20 acres just north of I-70 and west of Ninth Street (252 Interchange) on W. Diamond Dr. The museum complex contains the Heritage Building which hosts historical displays but also includes the administrative offices and a meeting hall. The Marietta Display Building includes a diverse range of collections and unique items, many related to rural life and agriculture. Included are displays representing a farm kitchen, a farm bedroom, a rural post office, a barbershop, a dry goods store, a print shop and other cultural displays. The building also contains numerous examples of tractors, including a rare Bull Tractor, an OMC Tractor (manufactured in Salina), a Reeves 25hp Steam Traction Engine, two powerhouse steam driven DC generators, many single cylinder engines along with threshers, shellers, seed cleaners and planters along with other implements.
The complex also includes the Cox One-Room School House circa 1923, the Wells Methodist Church built in 1901, a 1930's filling station and an 1860's Kingsley Ferguson Sawmill.
